Last Chance

Hi ... no updates for some time - I do post a lot over at my own blog (http://bankrolling.wordpress.com)
Now - after the official end of the league you all deserve one more posting - we failed to win the league, but its not over yet ... On Sunday I´ll play the captains challenge and I hope that I can represent Team Soooted Connectors in the best possible way - which means taking down that challenge.
Keep your fingers crossed - I´ll update on Sunday!

Mind the Gap!

Well - looks like JustCruising are up and away, after scoring big again last week. But we won´t give up just now - it´s still four weeks to go and we are "only" 1300 points away ... points won´t do the job anymore, though. What we need now are the big results!
I hope we can catch up tonight ...

Rookie ITB, first success and 600 missing points

Sorry for another update delay - looks like I am on my own ...

Last week looked very good for a long time - but in the end we made only a disappointing 100 points ...
100 points are not that bad, but when you´ve got 3 players in the Top 10 with 100 players left you are looking for more points ...
Langboy and I both went out versus Blonde Pokers RookieITB who managed to finish second in the end ... I lost holding 99 and checkraising Rookie all in, who insta-called with A10 and hit immeadiatley - position 48 and 20 points ...

Langboy run a small pair in a bigger pair of rookie and went out 16th, earning the team 80 points.

We are now at position 4, but we due to iPod_u's win for team JustCruising, they are now at 3060 points - more than 500 points ahead of the second and more than 600 ahead of us ... so from now its All or nothing, as we need a win ... JackTen is due - so I guess we are not out yet ...

Best of luck to the team tonight ...

A lot of changes ... or "Back with a bang"

Sorry for the lack of updates in the last weeks but I was moving home, leaving my job, am currently searching for a new one and had a lot of things to do ... Poker did not run to well anyway, but yesterday team Soooted Connectors had a really strong performance.

First things first, I quit my job, because I moved back to Vorarlberg, where I grew up ... my gf has a great job here and I`ll find something easily too (thats what I hope).

Last week we did not score, and I was still moving into my new flat, which is huge, calm and in the center of thriving Feldkirch!
Yesterday was different ... I started to play late, as I was on a bike ride up some local mountain - but when I started Ladbrokes dealt me some great hands ... I got AA twice within 4 hands and I even got some action ...
Langboy started to play really late (with about 1k left) but made a great comeback and JackTen was on top of the pack for most of the time ... Hattricks went out first, but he played proper poker, too.
After 3 hours, when approaching the points bubble, we still had three contenders! Unfortunatley JackTen got a call with A9 (he was holding QQ), the villain hit, and he was all in the next hand ... out he went in position 54!

Langboy and I got seated at the same table - which I did not like too much, as you do not want to hurt your team mate, but its still poker and you cannot let anyone stop your game. We had only a few confrontation - once he caught me bluffing and put me all in, and twice he attacked my big blind :-(

We had a strong table, and on our journey down the field langboy shot out abmaverick from LIP (AA hold against AQ) ... My time ended with our hand of fate last night ... with 18 players left and somehow shortstacked I got dealt QQ - raised, got a reraise and pushed all in ... Villain hold AA. Position 18, approx. $50 and 80 points for Soooted Connectors was my result.

Langboy went much further ... he made the final table, got a lot of respect there and was chipleader for a long time! Then he got into a raising war and got severly crippled ... With 3 players left a blind steal got snapped off, and the tourney was over: more than $600 and 650 points should put us back into the Top 5 of the table!

MTTs hurt

Well - no result in Week 11

I had a very fast out after first flopping a straight where I did well to lose not everything about the Villains Flush Draw (I hate calling stations) ... and then pushed my trip Ks into a Full House, gg me

Hattricks did not last very longer, so we were down to JackTen and langboy ... JackTen lasted long, but never came really into the flow due to ladbrokes not giving out good cards to Team Sooooted Connectors... Langboy had a decent tourney, but was very card dead - and when he pushed AJ sooooted he was instacalled by AQ ... no improvement - 89th

Still 9 weeks to go ... and we are still in the race!

Wednesday 11 July 2007

There is still Civ3

... well - The Daddy Tournament does not like me, but there is always Civilization III!

After going out of the Daddy Tournament (running my Full House into quads) I disconnected and went on on my task to let my civilization prosper. The Persian Empire had some idea of trampling across my fields so I politely asked em to bugger off - which made them declare war... A couple of hours later Persia is almost gone - and so are all the tilty feelings!

I am so happy I discovered Civilization again - perfect tilt controll!

Lucky me

Just played the biggest crapshot qualifier ever ($10 rebuy, 3 min levels) and won myself a seat for tonights "Whos your daddy" ... I am definitly not doomswitched anymore at laddies

Mission accomplished

At the end of June I posted a short list of my targets for July ... and I managed to accomplish the most important mission ... I made more than 200 points.

In last night Captains Challenge I finished 4th - which made us 500 points, $222 + an extra $50 for every team member.
Yesterday, for once, I was playing very good - I made one rather bad call (cold calling an All In with an open ended straight), but from that point I believe I played quite well ... I was very cold decked for long periods, but whenever I came into the auto-push area I got decent hands, which made survival much easier.

Soooted Connectors should be in the Top 7 again ... so we are definitley still in the race for the cruise!

Monday 2 July 2007

Good run ... no result

It did look very promising tonight, but we failed to make points ...

We managed to have everyone on start, and our first casualty came just before the first break ... langboy went out in 270th position.

After that we all had a great second hour and were all above the average, and I cannot speak about the others, but I had only a few decent hands, but they did really pay off!

Hattricks went out in position 128 ... and Jackten and me looked very strong, mixing it up upfront!

In the third hour the cooler came ... I had some swings, but looked really good (approx. position 10) and JackTen came back from almost last position ...
Then _JackTen_ pushed with KQ on Qxx board - but he was called from AQ - out he went in position 75!

I followed almost soon after ... I raised with K10 to steal the blinds, only to get a small reraise from the small (who attacked my steal attempts earlier already) ... I called and the board came K83 rainbow ... I pushed all in ... Instacall y Villain - he held AA and I did not improve, resulting in my departure in position 70!

Next week is "Captains week", so I have to do all the hard work on my own - I hope I manage to get some points for our team (+ their is money for the whole team in it, if I get into the top 5)

Another Month gone

... and it was far from perfect ...

I wish all members of Team Soooted Connectors and the readers (all five of you) of this blog a succesful July ...

I know it may look stupid afterwards, but I am going to post my goals for July ... right now and here, where the public can see it and rip me apart for failing ...

A) Qualify for EPT Barcelona
B) score more than 100 Cruise League Points
C) win 2k+ in one Tournament
D) If qualification for Barcelona fails, win enough to buy into the Bodensee Open in Bregenz (Thursdays €1000 Event) in my Cash Game (meaning approx. $1500)

So ... I hope I can reach my targets by July 31st ... I´ll keep you updated, whenever I hit one of em ...

Rockets vs Snowmen

Good news first - I am getting dealt excellent hands again at Ladbrokes

but, they do not pay off - in Yesterdays Cruise League Event I got them 3 times within 20 minutes ... first time I could extract a whopping additional 80 chips to the Blinds, second time I just got the blinds and third time my rockets were blewn out of the sky. I got them dealt in Late Position and made a small raise, SB called, BB folded ... Flop Q86 - raise from Villain, I reraise (I made that move with worse hands before, being the aggressive maniac I am) and she insta-shoved all in ... I thought for a second but then called, as I thought that my table image should be that of a thieving maniac ...

She showed 88 ... turn and river were no help, so I was sent to the rail in position 303!

Unfortunately Langboy and JackTen failed to score, too and Hattricks had technical problems ... so another blank this week!

Dropped out of Top 10

Well ... with our recent results it had to be expected ... after week 7 we dropped out of the Top Ten of the Poker Cruise Leagues Table...

BUT - Last week I dreamed that we are going to finish 1st and 10th in one week ... I hoped it was week 7, but quite clearly was wrong, so I guess it most be week 8.

OMG - I am going psycho

Wednesday 20 June 2007

10 points in week 7

Due to a packed timetable only a short update ... _JackTen_ came in 48th and we added 10 points to our score ...

Cheers

More Caribbean News

The European Poker Tour released its schedule for the Season Four and for the first time ever a "Non-European Location" was added! Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure, which was a WPT Event, is now one of the brand new EPT Locations - the Event will take place in the first week of January and should be fun. They also added Prague - but no date was added so far ... The buy in will be €8000 this season - so expect more expensiv qualifiers, but also bigger prizes ...

I am really looking forward to this, as one of my targets this year is to play at least one of the Season 4 events!

I am not the Daddy

... after almost 2 hours I just dropped out of Ladbrokes "Who's your daddy" Tournament in a heartbreaking way --- I raised with 99 and another guy who has almost as many chips as I have (about 3,8k) goes all in. I think forever and then decide that I really need a double up and call. He shows me 22! On the flop I make a set - only to lose to a flush on the river ...

The tournament itself is quite interesting and I'd expected a higher standard of play to be honest - I definitley going to give this another shot soon.

One Hit Wonder?

Week 6 of the Cruise League was another no scoring week and we are still (almost) a One Hit Wonder.

Apologies to my team - I made a terrible call in my first hand and was eleminated second to last ... I hold the invincible weapon of AJ with a flop of QJ4 ... the other guy check-called a small raise after the flop, Turn Rag - he checks, I check and after a raggy river Villain goes all in ... I thought forever, even took my time bank and then thought - "I won´t be pushed around by your AK" and called ... he flips over QQ ... good night, well played Sir.

Although I wrote about being more aggressive I did not intend to be that loose, but it just looked like a blatant steal.

The rest of the team played way better, but no points either.
Hattricks had a two pair vs. set confrontation; JackTen ran AK into AA and Langboy, who survived longest pushed with 55, but the Big Blind showed him his Austrian Airlines and Team Soooted Connectors was done with this tournament.

While watching langboy I had a nice result and qualified for tonights "Whos your Daddy" tournament - maybe I last longer there ... updates on that tomorrow

A new mindset

Tonight is the 6th event of the Cruise League and I thought it was about time to revise my last weeks ...

I guess the win in week one, plus the reception I got on that afterwards somehow crippled my play at ladbrokes ... A lot of people told me that I was just lucky and although I knew that it was not completely true (I was very very lucky a lot of times, but I was playing perfect big stack bully poker) I somehow adjusted to that and tried not to outdraw others, but to only get in with the best hand ... but this is not the way I normally play and I am not feeling to comfortable with it.

So tonight it might be "luckbox-poker" again ... I am going to punish the weak-tight play that is so common on laddies ...

So tomorrow you might read about me dropping out very early, but if i manage to build some kind of a big pot, I might go deep ... and scratching 10 points won´t help us anyway - we need big scores.

What we also need is a four man team - so I really hope, that langboy is playing tonight ...

Good luck Team Soooted Connectors ...

Tuesday 5 June 2007

Don't mention Day 5

I am soooo disappointed ... Langboy did not show up, I ran my KK into AA and riverlucker and hattricks failed to score, too.

The tournament is not attracting that many players any more, but we somehow just cannot score at the moment ... I played way better than the last few times, but still believe that I have to improve by miles to ever get to the FT again.

Well - there is always next week, and maybe coming from behind stimulates our poker instincts

Beers are on you Mike!

A day to remember?

Month one of our cruise league adventure was quite good and I believe we should try to get a head start in June, too. Two of our members are playing from such exotic locations like Birmingham (the other one from Ibiza) - so lets hope that this holiday spirit frees our mind to take down Event 5 of the Cruise League.

I believe I am going to play the Mansion 100k next to the Cruise League - so if I do not chat to much it is not a sign of inpolitness - I am just busy taking down the other tourney, too.

Feeling good today - so let´s ship it!

Thursday 31 May 2007

If I may ...

May is over and so are the first four events of ladbrokes poker league ... After 20% of the events we dropped another position and are now number 3 in the league.
We have a new leader, and this team proves that consistancy is the way to win the whole thing! Team CLAUS AALING CHRISTIANSEN scored for the fourth time - and this time they made enough points to take over the lead.

CLAUS AALING CHRISTIANSEN 1590
Sueco Locos 1120
Soooted Connectors 1040
CASTAWAYS 1000
Under 18 1000

116 teams scored so far - and registration is closed now ...
Check out the league tables yourself at ladbrokes poker!

I hope we can get a little bit more consistent in June, too - but would always swap consistancy for another win!!!

Poor PerFOURmance

Week Four did not result in any points for Team Soooted Connectors ...

Riverlucker went out within minutes ... his flopped straight did not hold, as an unknown fish hit his gutshot (nuts) straight on the river ... with only 20 chips left - short action this time, hopefully next time he will last longer.

4h3h and Hattricks struggled almost from the start but managed to survive the first hour - only to end their day shortly after the first break.

Langboy looked very promising again - he managed to get up to 16k chips quite early, but then he was not dealt any decent cards any more ... Attempts to steal or raise, were met by reraises and poor langboy slowly lost his chips again ... With 71 players still in Mike got dealt A9 in the small blind and moved all in, as he got no room left for fancy raises - it was all in or fold ...
The Big Blind did not think long and called - his A10 hold - and our last man standing went out 71st.

The new structure and starting time should be nicer and we still hope to score big and get back on top of the league ... I guess some other teams made big points so we are definitley going down - for now ...

Stay tuned for more updates about Team Soooted Connectors

Monday 28 May 2007

More time - more fun

Cruise Event No 4 is this night, and laddies introduced a new blind structure - instead of 12 minutes every level lasts now for 15 minutes ... We´ll see how much it changes the game, but I guess it won´t affect us to much - the push fold time will come later and I guess that are good news.

Good luck to all team members - lets take it down tonight!

Thursday 24 May 2007

Top of the League - not

Cruise League Leaderboard was updated and we moved down one position and are now Top of the League +1 ...

New Number One is "Sueco Locos" - the team of this weeks number one ...
Our joint leader from last week the "Under 18" failed to score, and remain at 1000 points...

Top 5:
Sueco Locos 1080
Soooted Connectors 1040
Under 18 1000
Eatmystack Desperados 920
Pride of the North 860

Sooooooo-ted

Week Three of the Cruise League added 40 more points to Team Soooted Connectors score!
Hattricks was first of our team to finish the tournament - his A10 looked nice on a 10 8 4 board - unfortunatley the villain had pocket 8s! He´ll be back next week.
My story is not very interesting either ... after doubling up a short stack (his 33 hold against my AQs) I was under pressure for a long time and when I thought I had the chance to double up myself I discovered that the other guy held the better hand ...Place 361 for me ...

The rest of the team did much better - _JackTen_ was under pressure as the money bubble approached but managed to get into the money anyway. Then he made nice comeback and went from 3200 to 16k ... only to find out that QQ are not as good as KK ... GG anyway - place 54 was just 4 places short of points.

Our long missed team mate Langboy secured points for the team - he was not able to play too many cards, as his deck seemed to be rather cold, but he went up position by position. When his stack got to short he discovered the mighty 47 - being the Small Blind he pushed ... the Big Blind thought for some time, but then bravely decided to call - with 10 7 ... The flop brought a well deserved 4 - but the river was not with langboy! A 10 put him out of the game! GG Mike and 40 points for our team ... you really should play every week!

I had a quick look at the other teams on top of the leaderboard and none of them scored big ... yesterdays winner jacksbee1 made the first points for his team, so there is the probability that we are top of the league for another week! I´ll update that tomorrow!

Change at Cruise League System/Monday review

I got an e-mail from LadbrokesPoker asking, if we would prefer changes to the starting structure + starting time of the tourney ... I´d favour 15 minute levels and a starting time at 19:35 GMT and so would langboy ... while Patricks does not really care, we are only waiting for Riverluckers response and as soon as I get that I will get back to laddies!

Tonight is League Event 3 and after a weak week 2, I hope we manage to get 4 starters in this event. We are still top of the league and I guess with some points we could manage to stay just there. I had a fairly decent night yesterday, making the money in mansions 100k guaranteed and in the Sunday Million - no big money though!

Good luck to Team Soooted Connectors, let´s take it down tonight!

Wednesday 16 May 2007

We(a)ek Two

No good news in week two: Despite the extra motivation from Schweigi's sensational 1st place last week, none of the soooted connectors was able to collect any of the precious points. However, the only success this week is that we could increase our participation from 2 to 3 players ;) Hattricks went out in 550th, 3h4h in 500th and JackTen in 450th position. The latter two were caught when they tried to bluff there way out of a pot.

But there is always next week. With 4 players, assuming langboy will finally enter the competition, we want to defend our top-3 position. Hopefully the blind-structure changes until then so the game isn't such a crap-shoot after the first hour!

Tuesday 8 May 2007

Great start to League

1000 points to team Soooted Connectors, after I managed to take down yesterdays event. We had a bad start, as two team members could not start, but then the day just turned perfect ... while _JackTen_ lost all of his races, I just could not lose yesterday and accumulated chip after chip.
Coming to the FT I had 50 percent of the tournaments chips and I could play my big chip stack! A lot of people complained about my calls, but you cannot lay down KQ against an all in move of your opponent, when he has only 5 percent of your stack.
After 4,5 hours I came out winner of the tourney - cashing in $4200 + 1000 points for my team.

I hope next week one of our team can manage a similary satisfying result!

Friday 27 April 2007
